Team profile

Italy

 Italy are historically one of the top teams in
the world in women's volleyball, having won numerous titles and trophies across
the board in FIVB and continental competitions. This includes gold medals at
senior World Championships (2002), World Cups (2007 & 2011), European
Championships (2007 & 2009) and lots more.

At age-group level Italy are proud holders of
the 2011 title in the U20 World Championships and have won one silver (1997)
and. one bronze (2015). At the U18 competition Italy won the title (2015), one
silver (2003) and three bronze (1995, 1997, 2005) medals.

Luca Cristofani

The 46-year old Cristofani was at the helm of
Italy’s national team including the likes of rising stars Cristina Chirichella
and Valentina Diouf that finished in sixth place at the inaugural U23 World
Championship in Mexico. He has got some international experience as he was at
the helm of Peru’s senior national team back in 2011-2012 when the South
Americans attempted – but eventually failed – to qualify for the 2012 Olympics
in London.
In 2015 he won the Bronze Medal as coach of Italy women's
national under 20, in the World Championship in Puerto Rico. This year he led
the Italy U18 to the Silver Medal in the European Championship.
