Hosts Brazil, Argentina and Peru strengthen position at South American U20 Women's Championship

 

Uruguay took on hosts Brazil on day two of the South American Women's U20 Championship in Uberaba

Uberaba, Brazil, October 28, 2016 – Day two of the South American U20 Women's Championship featured victories for Peru, Argentina and hosts Brazil, who were also victorious on the opening day of the competition. The six teams participating in the tournament are competing for a berth at the FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship in Mexico in 2017.

Coach Marco Queiroga's Peru defeated Chile 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-15). Peru's top scorer was Leslie Leyva with 14 points. Queiroga's players dominated the spiking (32-23), serving (7-2) and blocking (9-5) skills.

Argentina defeated Paraguay 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-14) in the second match of the day. Agostina Soria topped the scoring with 12 tallies, followed by Daniela Nielson with 10.  Argentina dominated the serving (12-1), blocking (4-3) and spiking (39-8) skills.

Finally, title-holders and hosts Brazil claimed the third win of the day against Uruguay 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-10), leading spiking (30-19), blocking (13-0) and serving (8-3).  Glayce Kelly topped the scoring with 13 points.
