Four remain unbeaten in CEV U20 World Champs qualifier

 

Belgium players celebrate their second win in the U20 World Championship qualifiers

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 20, 2017 – Belgium, Poland, Russia and Turkey made it two wins from two on the second day of the CEV Women’s U20 World Championship Qualifiers on Saturday. 

The top two teams at the Qualifiers will reach the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship that will take place in Mexico from July 14-23. The two pools are split between Wieliczka in Poland and Turgutlu in Turkey.



In Pool E in Poland, Belgium had to dig deep to defeat Germany in a tie-break. After Germany won the first set Belgium twice fought back to level the score and eventually claimed a 3-2 (21-25, 26-24, 24-26, 30-28, 15-9) victory after 139 minutes of play. 

Poland recorded another straight-sets victory, this time 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-21) over Bulgaria.

Russia have also yet to drop a set after they beat they beat Croatia 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-18), while hosts Turkey beat the Netherlands 3-1 (25-13, 26-28, 25-11, 25-21).
