Cairo, Egypt, January 30, 2017 – Egypt secured a spot at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship in Mexico after winning the 2017 African Nations Championship Women’s U20s at the Olympic Centre in Cairo on Sunday.

Egypt swept rivals Tunisia to defend their title in the best-of-three series final. Egypt dominated Tunisia 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-20) on Saturday, then completed the sweep with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-6, 23-25, 25-9) win on Sunday.

After an intense encounter in the first set, Egypt effortlessly dominated in the second set. The Tunisians succeeded with a slim margin at 25-23 in the third frame, as they mounted solid blocks on the Egyptian attackers.

Egypt saw this upsurge from their opponents and changed their tactic in the fourth set by utilizing Mariam Metwally’s brilliance on the quick attacks that strengthened their grip on the title.
